History of Innovative Products and Cutting
Edge Ingredients
-
1988
- 1989
-
Introduced first use of Glycolic Acid Polymer. Smoother and less problematic
glycolic ingredient.
-
The first to offer a stable moisture cream to estheticians using glycolic
acid polymer.
-
Shark cartilage used in an eye gel.
- 1991
-
Introduced the first ever skin care product containing Epidermal Growth
Factor. Were copied by many other companies in the years after that.
-
Introduced the first eye cream with glycolic.
-
First to combine glycolic and benzoyl peroxide in an acne product.
The first company to combine glycolic with hydroquinone in a bleach product.
Hard to believe, but no one was doing these back then.
- 1992
-
The use of antioxidants has become the big topic in skin care products
in the last 2-3 years. But in 1992 no one was talking about this but us.
-
We introduced the first "Antioxidant Toner" - using ingredients such as
glutathione and superoxide dismutase and Vitamin C! Ingredients that no
one had really heard of then, let alone put in a product. Now everyone uses
these types of ingredients and talks the "antioxidant talk."
-
We were the first company to use and talk about Kojic as a bleach ingredient.
Now it is widely accepted and everyone formulates with it. We had it completely
to ourselves in the U.S. for at least a year before everyone jumped on that
band wagon.
-
We made Arbutin available in bleach formulas too. Most people had never
heard of this either.
- 1993
-
Everyone knows that most personal care products have a body wash product.
But in 1993, no one was doing high performance body wash products. We came
out with the first ever. It sounds uneventful now, but it was very innovative
then.
-
Used Black Tundra, Crystalline Jojobaand Antioxidants in a natural sunblock.
- 1994
-
We introduced the first ever Liquid Crystal product in the form of an eye
serum. Introduced the skin care world to the use of Spin Traps as potent
free-radical fighters. These were two totally futuristic products that no
one has managed to catch up with yet.
-
And another even more visionary concept was first quietly introduced. That
was the concept of Chirally Correct products. We discussed it via an article
on using Lactic Acid versus Glycolic.
-
Shea Butter is a fairly common (and good) ingredient in skin care products
now. We were the first to use it in 1994. We put it in a body wash, shampoo
and lotion.
-
We were the first to use Beta-Glucosamine in a product.
- 1995
-
We introduced the use of D2O, or heavy water, as a unique ingredient.
-
We were also the first company to formulate and write about Cranberry as
an effective ingredient for skin care. We were also the first company to
put DHEA in a product.
-
We introduced the anti-aging benefits of wine in skin care products.
-
We were the first to introduce and use "Chenopodium." The only source of
botanical oxygen.
- 1996
-
We were the first company to formulate a Vitamin C product with the high
strength of 20%.
-
We were also far ahead of the crowd in introducing "fullerenes" and discussing
their potential use in personal care products.
- 1997-1998
-
This was an important period of developing and completely introducing the
concept of Chirality. We are currently far ahead of any skin care company
in the world doing this. Other ingredient and product concept firsts:
Zeolyte, Pumpkin peels, beta-fructan, fumaric acid, gallic acid and cholic
acid.
